On July 1, 2015 Iowa enacted Iowa Code Chapter 135P, its open discussion law, otherwise known as "Candor Conference." This law allows a health care provider and/or a health care facility to provide written notice to a patient or the patient's attorney of their desire to engage in an "open discussion" following an "adverse health care incident." Hayes Lorenzen Biderman Lawyers has successfully used Candor Conferences not only to get their client's questions answered about why the adverse event happened, but to secure compensation for them. Under this process we are able to work directly with the health care providers and health care facility without the necessity of filing a lawsuit.
